Whitewater CE Primary School

Class 1

Spring Term

Up, Up and Away!

The Reception children have really settled into school life now. They rose to the challenge of our Nativity play at the end of the Autumn term ably supported by the Year one children. We are very proud of their achievements.

Our topic for this term is 'Up, up and away'.  A curriculum web for this topic is available at the bottom of this page.

At the start of the term we worked on some challenging Growth Mindset activities, including some balloon games that required concentration and team work in order to succeed. We also took part in some scenarios that involved working out how to help someone, what makes a good friend and how we are all the same but different.

We are really looking forward to learning about things that move up into the sky. We have many questions that we want answered about animals and vehicles that fly.

As part of our Geography we are becoming detectives, looking for evidence and comparing town and country.

In Science we will be looking at animals, including what they eat. Do you have a healthy diet?

Autumn Term - Welcome to Class 1!

Mrs Proctor is the teacher in Class 1.

Welcome to Class One

Class one has had a really positive start to the new school year. I am very proud of the Year One children who have shown a very mature attitude to their learning and modelled our value of fellowship to the new Reception children.

Well done to the new Reception children who have made lots of new friends and are becoming familiar with new routines and the adults who help them to learn in our school.

We very much enjoyed a visit from the Fire Fighters. The helped us to learn about keeping safe and how to use the fire hose.

‘Whats in the Toy box’ topic

During the week of the 2nd October we will be having a focus on soft toy bears.

We would like the children to bring a bear into school on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd October.

If there are any parents that have any old toys or games that we could look at as part of our history work we would be very grateful.

Please click on the curriculum maps below for other information about our learning and see the Class 1 album in the photo gallery, under news and events, for images of the childrens' learning.
