Another hot and sunny day!

Good Morning Foxes!

First of all, Johhny - please look back onto yesterday's blog posts for an apology from the Editor about  your mosquito situation!

How are we all  going to keep cool today?

  • What about devising some paddling pool, watering can or sprinkler challenges?
  • Could you try and make your own cooling system or fan?
  • Have a go at making ice lollies, ice pops,  ice creams  or cooling drinks and share your results!
  • Try designing an effective sun hat with special features to help you survive in extreme heat.
  • How about trying to make a simple irrigation system for part of your  garden?

Remember to drinks lots of water, stay in the shade when possible, wear a hat and sun cream.

Looking forward to  hearing from you and have a fantastic day!

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B Today we are going kayaking down the basingstoke canal. its really shady there because its covered by tree branches. We are going there at 3:30 and we are taking lots of water and stuff so we can stay not hungry or thirsty.

Hi James. What a brilliant way to spend time on a hot day like today - kayaking on a shaded canal! With your picnic and drinks on hand, it sounds like you will have a really 'cool' time. Enjoy and thanks for checking in today!

Hello class, I've already jumped into the pool this morning because is it so sunny and hot, so first lesson today was swimming! My sunflower has at least FOUR heads ready to flower!! we have sent a photo in. Does anyone else have more than one flower appearing? We have visited the Vyne and Basildon Park National trust gardens in the last two weeks and we chased grass hoppers in the grass. Today Luke went back to school and i have two quiet days to myself. But Mummy is getting me working!! What don't you know about me? I have a new Nephew called Luca so i am now an Uncle twice! From Zachary

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B, today to keep cool I have made myself lots of ice in big pots. The ice really helps to cool me down. Yesterday I hadn't made any so I was absolutely boiling. I have also grown lots of plants but because of the heat I have to keep them indoors and water them regularly . Stay safe, Helena

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B, yesterday me and Ethan had the sprinkler on by the swing and we were swinging into the water! We also had it under the trampoline and it was coming up through the floor. It was so much fun! Dad looked on the internet and saw that you could put socks in the freezer and have a cold water bottle instead on a hot water bottle. We tried the sock idea, but it didn't work. Hi Zachary, what a lovely cool way to start your day! If you look on our class page today, you will find your sunflower photo - thank you for sending it in. Very impressive - a veritable monster of a flower! You have been busy getting out to enjoy the National Trust gardens - did they have many special plants we wonder? Congratulations on being an uncle. Continue to stay cool and thanks for keeping in touch!

Hi Helena - what a cool idea (get it?) We certainly could do with some buckets of ice here in school today. HOT, HOT,HOT - so we are taking things very slowly. Looking forward to seeing pics of your plants. It sounds like you are taking good care of them in this heat. Great to hear from you - take care,

Hi Esme, oh to be sat on that swing and dipping in and out of the sprinkler spray! The trampoline idea is novel and the socks from the freezer sounds as though it should work - bit disappointing as cool socks would be a great thing. We know the ice or cold water bottle works as Mrs Laurie's rabbits used to love snuggling up to one on really hot days! Thanks for the great ideas,
