Wednesday 22nd April - Earth Day

How can we help our Earth?

Good Morning Everyone,

Today is Earth Day, a day on which we think about what more we can do to help our planet.

Have you noticed how blue the sky has been over the last few days and how warm the sun feels on your face?  Have you stopped to notice how powerful the wind has been as its whipped through the trees?  Our Earth is amazing and so beautiful if we remember to look.  What magical thing have you noticed about our Earth as you have been out and about or playing in your gardens?

We have been thinking about all the things we do to help make sure we keep our Earth beautiful for the next generation, for you guys as you grow up! In school we make sure we turn lights off when we leave rooms and we recycle in all the classrooms.  What other things do you guys do at home to help look after our Earth?  Is there anything more you think we could do?

If you want to know more about Earth Day maybe you and your family might like to have a look at the Earth Day website.

Take Care

Mrs B & Mrs L

P.S: Just so you know, from today onwards we will be turning off comments on the previous day's blog post so you are only able to comment on the current days post.  This is to help us make sure we see and reply to all of your posts.

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B I have seen three kites swooping around up in the sky. They are quite loud I have never noticed the noise they make before. As you know the sky has been really clear at night over this week and last week we have been trying to spot a shooting star. My mums friends have seen the star but we haven't. Daddy keeps telling my sister to turn the bathroom lights off. I'm going to do some creative writing today for Earth day. P:S I hope you all are fine and having a great time

Hi James Red Kites are great birds arn't they! We have seen 2 fly over the school every day. As there are no children in the playground, they are becoming very brave and are flying in very low! I (Mrs B) have been in my garden every night watching the stars and trying to spot the Space X Satellites. I saw a couple but haven't managed to see lots altogether. I think I'll try again tonight, maybe you could look to? Creative Earth Day Writing is a great idea! It would be lovely to see it when we get back to school. Happy Star Gazing

Hello everyone, I think I should do a poem for Earth day. Up here in Northumberland nature is everywhere, once on a walk we saw a lamb being born😍. I really want to go running on the hills with my auntie but she thinks I can’t run 1 hour non stop like her. Yesterday I went to the vegetable patch and watered our onions, strawberries and seedlings. We are so lucky to have this amazing world. Mum has spoilt me with this lockdown and has given me a punk haircut (didn’t come out well!), headphones and a new gaming mouse which lights up with many colours. Best wishes, Johnny

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B, I've been in my garden a lot and me and my family have been looking at the different colours of the trees and thought that it would be cool if we took pictures of the trees each season to see how much they change. We saw lots of bluebells in the woods near hook. I hope you will get to enjoy the sun. From Esme

Hi, I have also seen a lot more birds than usual in our garden. The kites keep flying down towards our new little doggy and I wonder if they might fly away with her, but my Mummy an Daddy say she'll be OK

Today i made a Banana cake with my little brother and Mum. I also learnt how to throw a spear with Freddie during our exercise time. Keep safe. Bye bye for now!

Hi Esme, We are managing to enjoy the sunshine both in the school playground and our own gardens. What a lovely idea to focus on the different colours of the trees! The amount of different colours in our trees is amazing! We have seen lots of small birds flying around the school playground. Mrs Burningham has been enjoying watching the birds visit her bird feeder in her garden. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine too.
