Red Kites - Thursday 21st May

I tried to get as close as I could without scaring the poor thing - a busy bee at work!

I would love to hear all about your favourite day on lockdown so far and it might be because of something little or perhaps something huge! Mine definitely wasn't my birthday but watching Ellie at the skate park in Hook before it was closed all those weeks ago was brilliant to see her try something new. Yesterday was also a special day as a good friend of mine has become a parent for the first time which has really made me smile and have that warm fuzzy feeling. You are so precious to your families that at times during these last few weeks  it might not have seemed so but remember to have that perspective of how unusual and challenging these times are and have been.

Imagine that you could go back in time to March 16th (a week before lock down) and hand yourself a survival guide to living in lock down and school closure with your family for the next two months. What key information would you include? What would you advise people to do to help them along the way? What lessons have you learned?

Today the chicks have gone outside but sadly one did die in the night so we only have three left. My favourite days have been when i can see my friends over the fence or see the teachers.

Hi Mr. G and Everyone! I have BIG news!!! We are NOT going back to Korea :( :0 :) I am sad, happy, ans shocked about it. Mr. G I hope you received my poem I sent you for teacher appreciation day! I would advise myself to not give up on doing 2 schools and that there will be bad day and BUSY days! I hope you are all well... Isla

Hi Red Kites and Mr G! On one of my favourite days, I learned to sew with my new sewing machine (still in the box from Christmas!) and made my first cushion! It was no ordinary cushion! My daughter was very happy because it was in the shape of her favourite animal - a turtle! My survival guide would include all the things, as a family, we have be doing; lots of exercise and enjoying the time we have been allowed to go out, taking more notice and appreciating our beautiful surroundings, spending time talking as a family. I miss you all very much, take care! Love Mrs Sharp

Hi Mr G My favourite day of lockdown so far would probably be VE Day. We had excellent food and lots of fun! I think the one thing I would do differently before lockdown would be to spend more time with my friends because you start not to notice them as much ,as you see them everyday, and then when you can’t see them, you realise how much they mean and how much you miss them. I have also learned and appreciated the NHS so much more and I think that after the lockdown the whole country will never treat them the same again. From Freya 🇬🇧😁

Hi Luke - it was nice to see you over the fence today and I cannot believe that you did not tell me about the poor chick :( Ah you saw me today over the fence so it must have been a fantastic day! :) Have a great half term - I will write a blog on Monday and keep the page open for comments all week for you to keep me posted!

Hello Isla! That is HUGE news and it is completely normal to feel those three emotions and endless other ones. You have been on quite a rollercoaster in the past few months and now at least you know what the future holds :) I did love your poem - it really made me smile. I thought I had replied to Mrs Fox but I will double check that my email sent. I would love to see the original poem if you still have it when the school is open again. So thoughtful. Two schools is quite full on isn't it! Can you blog on your school in Korea or are we just pretty cool? :)

Hello Mrs Sharp! A turtle cushion sounds completely insane ambition but for you it sounds quite normal! I bet it looked fantastic and that your daughter loved it. My cushion that I made in DT in Year 9 was where I peaked but I can sew - I mended Ellie's beanbag the other week and felt like a champion! Have a great half term!

Hi Freya - so true about friends! We got so used to seeing everyone each day and in many ways we cannot be blamed for seeing that as normal as it was all we knew. I t has made me want to make the most of each day in school even more so than I did before. I think of the end of the day when we used to line up inside the class and there was just an expectation that we would see everyone again tomorrow. Your messages always make me think a lot - thank you!
