A Message from Mrs Jolliffe

Good Morning Otters,

Happy Blueberry Pie Day! I really hope that you are all busy learning, having fun and staying safe! I miss every single one of you very much. I have been busy baking and today I have a great excuse to bake because I love blueberries :)

What's your favourite fruit? Can you bake anything with your favourite fruit? Let me know! I need a new baking project.

Love from,

Mrs Jolliffe

Hi Mrs Joliffe, I am busy doing lots of home learning. I have been working on badges for Beavers too and as part of my cooking badge I made barbecued banana splits with chocolate and marshmallows. They were deeeeelicious! My invention would be a time machine to stop people drinking bat soup and so that the new Corona virus did not jump to humans! I hope I will see you soon! Love Leo

Hello Mrs Joliffe. We have been doing lots of baking with fruit too! Yesterday we baked oat and apple puree cookies and they were really nice. The day before that we had also made them but they came out fat because we didn't realise we had to squash them down completely! Today we have already made banana bread. We also made raspberry and strawberry shortbread from the Whitewater School cookery book, it was Scarlett's recipe! It was all delicious. We still have some shortbread left. Our blueberry plant didn't grow any blueberries last year, but it looks like it will grow at least 5 this year! I am really interested that you've said it's blueberry pie day - it seems interesting that blueberry pie has a celebration day. Love Sylvi xxx

Hello Mrs Jolliffe, Ms Lamble and rest of the Otter class. My favourite fruit is strawberries 🍓 because they are very juicy. I don’t really like cakes with fruit. My favourite cake is chocolate cake 🍰 and I can have strawberries on the side. Lots of love Olivia (and Zachary) 🌸🥰💖

Hi Mrs Jolliffe! I miss you. My favourite fruit at the moment is kiwi, and I just like eating it fresh. We did an apple, plum and raspberry crumble today. I designed my own recipe for the crumble on top. I used cinnamon, brown sugar, dry porridge oats, demerara sugar, sultanas and coconut oil and I mixed it together to make a crumble to sprinkle on top. I did a chef's taste test which was literally half of the bowl! lots of love from Freya xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dear Sylvi, You can find lots of funny holidays online - there's a National Popcorn Day, a World Penguin Day and even a National Bathtub Racing Day! Ms Lamble likes the sound of National Bring Your Teddy to School Day in October. You have made lots of delicious sounding fruit recipes - I'd love to try the raspberry and strawberry shortcake.
