Cocoon, Pupa or Chrysalis?

Dear Otters,

I hope you can help me - I'm a little confused. We all know that after caterpillars have eaten lots of food they spin themselves a...what? I have seen it called lots of different names, including cocoon, pupa and chrysalis. Which one is correct? Are they all correct? HELP!

Love from,

Ms Lamble

Pupa is the little parcel that caterpillars wrap round themselves and then they become a moth or butterfly. Chrysalis is the butterfly’s pupa and cocoon is the moth’s pupa 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🐥🦄🐥🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🦄⛷🦄🐥🦄🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🦄🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🐥🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦉🦉🦉🦉💒🦉💒🦉🦉🦉🦉💒🦉💒💒💒💒💒💒💒🤺
