Good Morning All!

We bet you are able to make a list of at least 5 things that you are having to do without and miss because of our current personal safety and social distancing requirements. A definite first and second on Mrs Laurie’s list are not being able to see or hug family and friends!

As time has gone on, however, Mrs Burningham and I have become aware of things that we are not missing, such as busy and noisy roads and skies criss-crossed by contrails (condensation or vapour trails) from aeroplanes. In fact, scientists are now saying that the sky is looking bluer because of there being less pollution in our atmosphere, due to a reduction in all forms of traffic during the lock-down.

What are you not missing, or pleased to be seeing less of? How is this change making you feel? What things would you like never to return after this crisis? Talk with your family and send us your comments about your thoughts on this.

P.S. This is something that you might like to make a note of to include in your  Covid-19 time capsule.

Good morning Mrs B and Mrs L I have been thinking about how the smoke from the planes and how it is effecting our ozone layer. Our ozone layer as is being less effected now because of the less flights now. But after lockdown we will start taking more flights than usual because we haven't seen other countries for such a long time.

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B Hi guys! The stuff I'm not missing is homework, getting dragged into Zara (my mums favourite clothing shop), the busy roads (not having to sit in a traffic jam), not having to get dressed in the same clothes every single day for school. The stuff I'm missing is my friends The parlour tea room (my favourite tea room I like going here as a special treat like when my sister did her SATS ) seeing my cousins going to the park and swimming. Now all I can do is make you tube videos watch you tube go on walks. Looking through my passwords to learn them off by heart lots of cooking making breakfast for everyone which is scrambled egg and bike riding.

Good morning Oliver, I think you have made a very good point . People may well travel more after restrictions are lifted because they have not been allowed to travel. So, overall, we might not see a real change because less travel for a while will be balanced out by perhaps more travel for a while. Thank you for your thoughts!

Hi James, not missing homework - how could you?! We can empathise a little regarding the shopping (Mrs Laurie likes Zara - so hence the 'a little'!); definitely with the traffic and the clothes too. Just think, we teachers can't wear our jeans etc for school, so it's a real treat for us too. Yes, it's really hard without our friends and many of us miss being able to go out for coffee/tea for a 'catch up' and a treat. All this practice making videos is a great use of many of your skills, James - well done! If you have got a method that you can share that helps you learn your passwords, please share it with us. Many adults would leap at the chance of learning how to remember all the passwords that we seen to accumulate and need - Mrs Burningham and I included! Have a lovely day,

Hi Jacob, lovely to hear from you. Which shops do you miss the most? It does sound like a blow to be missing 'adventure days' - they sound great fun. Sorry to hear that you are missing your family too . Not missing English, handwriting or spelling hmmm? You've already done a little practice today just by reading, emailing in and commenting on our blog :) Take care and enjoy your day,

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B, I'm not missing Homework either or travelling long distances, but I am missing going out with my friends and shopping. I'm getting bored of staying in Rotherwick all the time. From Esme

Hi Esme, skipping politely over the homework comment (how could you?!), Mrs Burningham and I are definitely not missing long hours sitting in a car either. Mrs Laurie is missing those 'little big things' like meeting up with friends to walk Dolly dog - always a good opportunity to catch up on the goss, enjoy the countryside and get some exercise! We will all appreciate going out more when this is all over. Take care,

Hello Mrs L and Mrs B, I am missing going trampolining and going to the chip shop on the way home afterwards! I do not miss getting up early in the morning (hearing my sister get up for her bus at 6am). I like seeing more birds in my garden and we have even discovered that we have a hedgehog living behind our shed.

Hi Helena, great to hear from you! What a lovely way to finish off trampolining - Mrs Laurie often looks longingly at the chip shop on the crossroads near Old Basing on her way home. We don't blame you for not wanting to be awake at 6 am either! How lucky you are to have a hedgehog in your garden - they are so rare these days. Try and get some photos if you can. Thanks for sharing!
