Kitchen Waste Plants!

Good morning everyone!

Over the last few days I (Mrs Burningham) have been planting things! Now, I haven’t got any seeds or seedlings to hand as we are in lock down, so I have had to be a bit creative!

I noticed that some of the potatoes I had in my kitchen had begun to sprout.  So, I decided I would try and plant these.  I have potted them up and am keeping my fingers crossed they grow.  This got me thinking about what other things I could plant from my kitchen.

I have dried out some seeds from a Butternut Squash and a Sweet Pepper and have now planted these to.  I have no idea if they will grow, but thought it would be worth a try!  Maybe you or your adults know if the seeds stand a chance? I will let you know how they do!

Have you done any gardening recently? Maybe you have some kitchen ‘bits’ you can plant to?

Take Care

Hi Mrs L and Mrs B We have done some garden work by taking all the ivy off the back fence and chopping all of the bramble away that was growing though the fence!I have set the sunbed up for my mum and my sister was sweeping the trampoline to get all the dead blossom off the trampoline. We have chopped some of the branches off a tree so we have some more space to jump on the trampoline. We have been watering Ruthy (our cherry tree) and I have been watering my echeveria subsessilis succulent cactus called blossom because she has pink leaves which look like blossom from a cherry tree.

Hi, Mrs L and Mrs B, my mum has absolutely no idea about plants, but me and my brother are growing some cucumbers ( even though I hate them ). We also have an apple and pear trees in our garden and at my old house, we used to have a plum tree. From Esme

Hi James, It sounds like you have been busy in the garden! We love the fact you have named some of your plants! Hopefully the nice weather will return soon so you can enjoy jumping on your trampoline again!

Hi Jacob, Some good seed ideas there! I will have to buy some tomatoes and have a go at planting some of the seeds! I am hoping that with all this rain we have had today, the seeds I have planted might stand a chance. Keeping my fingers crossed! I will let you guys know if they do grow.

Hi Esme, Maybe growing your own cucumbers might change your mind about them? I think home grown veg always tastes better than what you can buy. You will have to let me know how they are once they have grown. How lovely to have your own fruit trees in your garden. I hope you get some fruit from them this year!
